The 850 Class (also known as the D16) entered service with Australian Iron & Steel at Port Kembla from 1959. They saw usage in coal haulage in the local area, as well as shunting service at the steelworks. D27 is the last remaining unit, and it continues to be used in the Port Kembla area.
