These CM40-8M units entered service from 1989 with Robe River Iron Ore (now part of Rio Tinto Iron Ore) as rebuilt Alco locomotives. They were used for working the line between Pannawonica and Cape Lambert in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, but the remaining units have now been withdrawn from service.
