The ZB Class units were originally Queensland Railways 2350 and 2370 Class members. They were shipped to Tasmania in 1987–88 and reclassified as the ZB Class. In Tasmania they were engaged in main line freight haulage. Two were later rebuilt as the ZP/ZR Class. Another three were sold to South Spur Rail for operation in Western Australia. The last ZB Class unit in service in Tasmania was withdrawn in 2014. Three are stored at East Tamar, near Launceston.
