Designed and manufactured by CSR Ziyang in China, the AC50 model is a further development of the earlier SDA1 model. Their AC traction engines produce 5000 horsepower (3729 kW). They underwent testing in China before further testing after arrival in Australia. Commencing service with Southern Shorthaul Railroad in 2026, they are painted in yellow and black livery.
