Comalco obtained two locomotives, numbered R1001 and R1002, for use at Weipa in Far North Queensland. They were based on the Western Australian L Class. Both units were later sold, with R1001 being renumbered L277 and used in New South Wales, while R1002 was renumbered as Lw276 and then LZ3120, and used in Western Australia.
