The D1 Class trams use the Combino model, a low-floor type that had operated successfully in a number of cities in Europe and Japan. Introduction of the D1 and D2 trams led to the withdrawal of the Z1 Class and the Z2 Class. All members of the D1 Class are allocated to Malvern depot.
