Nine of the GWU Class units entered service in 2012, two in 2020, and a further four in 2021. They were built using the C44aci production model, which is in service with various railway operators throughout Australia. Eleven are now owned by Magnetic Rail Group and four are part of the Aurizon standard gauge fleet.
