Richmond is located in the far western suburbs of Sydney and is serviced by a branch line from Blacktown. The line is double track between Blacktown and Schofields, and single track between Schofields and Richmond. Crossing loops are located at Riverstone, Mulgrave and Clarendon, while a double-sided platform is provided at the Richmond terminus. The Richmond line is combined in timetables with the Western line. Train services on the Western line typically operate between the city and Penrith, Emu Plains or Richmond.
