Transperth

Transperth operates train, bus and ferry services in the Perth suburban region. It is part of the Western Australian Government’s Public Transport Authority (PTA), which operates an integrated public transport system throughout Western Australia. In 2022–23 there were 50,359,000 train passenger boardings on Transperth trains, excluding special event services. Transperth services the following lines from Perth:

  • Airport line

  • Armadale line

  • Fremantle line

  • Joondalup line

  • Mandurah line

  • Midland line

  • Thornlie line.

At June 30 2023 Transperth operated a fleet of 330 Electric Multiple Unit carriages, consisting of 48 two-car A Series trains and 78 three-car B Series trains.

 

Transwa

Transwa operates regional train and coach services to over 240 locations throughout Western Australia. Its train services are the Prospector from East Perth to Kalgoorlie, the Australind from Perth to Bunbury, the MerredinLink from East Perth to Merredin, and the AvonLink from Northam to Midland. There were 170,225 journeys on Transwa trains in 2022–23, with Prospector conveying the highest number of passengers. The Transwa train fleet consists of 14 railcars: seven Prospector railcars, two railcars for AvonLink/MerredinLink services, and five Australind railcars. Australind services are not currently operating but are expected to resume with the introduction of new railcars in 2025.
